Learn Korean through play: two little adventures

A café order. A first photocard trade. Sometimes a small story is a lovely reason to try a little Korean. Meet our two Korean learning games, playable right in your browser.

One coffee in Seoul: your first café order

You’ve arrived in Seoul, found a cozy café, and decided on an iced Americano. In One coffee in Seoul, that simple errand becomes a short Korean conversation, from getting the barista’s attention to saying goodbye.

The adventure takes about three minutes. Walk into the café, put your order together with phrase tiles, and choose your replies. You’ll ask for your drink to go, pay by card in the game, decline a receipt, and collect your coffee.

Along the way, you’ll practice phrases you can use at a café:

  • 아이스 아메리카노 하나 주세요. — One iced Americano, please.
  • 포장해 주세요. — To go, please.
  • 카드로 할게요. — I’ll pay by card.
  • 감사합니다. — Thank you.

Start with English hints, turn on pronunciation guides if they help, and replay with the English response hints hidden when you want another try. Korean audio is available when your browser has a Korean voice; the on-screen dialogue lets you play with sound off, too.

Want to meet the words first? Our Korean café vocabulary lesson introduces drinks, ordering phrases, and a short quiz before you step up to the counter.

Comeback Club: a place at the table

Comeback Club: Your First Trade brings you into an illustrated K-pop fan club. Meet Mina, Alex, and Bo, get to know the fictional group DAYDOT, and work toward your first photocard trade.

Each activity gives you something to notice: who is youngest, who took a photo, or which member a friend likes best. Read the profiles, look at the cards, and use those clues to make your choices. You’ll encounter two Korean words and one English fandom term:

  • 막내 (maknae) — the youngest person in a particular group or family.
  • 셀카 (selca) — a selfie: a photo taken by someone who also appears in it.
  • Bias — a fan’s favorite member or artist.

The story gives these words a setting: a shared table, a collection of cards, and people helping you find your place. Open the notebook to revisit what you’ve encountered, then try the optional review when you’re ready.

Dialogue stays visible, and optional voices depend on your browser’s available speech support. Your story progress saves in this browser, so you can leave the clubroom and come back later on the same device and browser.

One small story, then a little more practice

Choose the café if you want to try a short everyday conversation. Choose Comeback Club if you’d like to explore a story through people, pictures, and fan vocabulary. Both games open on the web and need JavaScript to play.

After playing, pick a word or phrase you want to remember and say it again. A second visit is a chance to notice something you missed or try a choice with less help.

For more Korean vocabulary practice, explore the Kotri app, with pronunciation, spaced review, and a tree that grows as you master words. These browser adventures are separate from your app progress. You can also try a Korean word on our homepage right now.
